
Let's discuss how the materials and topics reviewed and discussed in our Fundamentals course will prove useful in the development and implementation of our final projects. Throughout our course, we chose the real world company for which we'd create a full digital marketing plan and reviewed important concept that we'd have likely seen in previous professional or undergraduate settings like SEO, SWOT and Industry Analyses, and market research. These topics and concepts are at the core of a marketing professional's work in the professional world either as a full-time employee of an established company or as a freelance consultant and specialist offer their services and skills to a client.
Key Concepts and Their Relevance
SEO (Search Engine Optimization): The practice of establishing the content relevance of a digital platforms content and wording to the inquiries of potential users and customers placed in search engines.
SWOT Analysis: The establishing of a company's or products Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats regarding its success potential in a given market.
Industry (PESTEL) Analysis: Researching the Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Environmental, and Legal factors that may affect the company's performance.
Competitor Analysis: Establishing the current structure, success, profits, services/products, and accessiblity by customers in comparisson to direct competitors in a given market.
Application to the Final Project
These concepts will be crucial for our chosen company to precisely assess their current relevance and position in their target market. This understanding is vital for determining the type of campaign and objectives required for the company to become a leading provider to their customer and audience bases.
Challenges Faced
Having previously worked with my preferred company in various capacities, I possess firsthand insight into the specific challenges it faces. Notably, their past marketing strategies have struggled to attract high-quality leads. A significant obstacle is the saturation of the web design market, both locally and nationally. Consequently, it is imperative that the marketing plan I develop circumvents the shortcomings of past strategies. I will need to adopt a more creative approach in my proposals.
Final Reflections
Creating a fully functional and customer-tailored marketing plan for my chosen company is the perfect test to see if we as DMMS students will have learned and acquired the necessary knowledge and skillset to enter the professional world as specialists in our field. The conent provided by our fundamentals course will be invaluable assets in understanding the foundational appraoch we'll need to take when developing our final projects. My company of choice has tried and in its previous marketing endeavours to earn good profits, so I know my task if even more daunting than previously assumed. However, I'm confiednt in being able to utilized what I've learned in this class to lay the proper ground work for success.
